The Originals Concert - friend of a friend's boyfriends cover band named The Originals.. not bad.. modern upbeat punk/rock covers of stuff like U2 - With or Without You, Aha - Take on me, Gary Jules - Mad World.. there was like no separation between the band and the crowd.. that's how tiny venues roll in Taiwan..

Peace Festival 2008 at some Botanical Garden up in Long Tan mountainous region of Tao Yuan.. it was like a Taiwanese version of that super muddy Woodstock festival a while back.. it was all wet, feet was all muddy (had to go barefoot!) but there was some dern good Malaysian Curry & an awesome MiniCoffee house to make up for it..

carylai homesickness

i think i'm experiencing some carylai homesickness already. even tho it's a great feelin to move out to taipei on my own..explore & challenge myself a little..i gotta say i really miss my friends. having familiar friends i can just call up to see whats up, share some thoughts..& maybe hang out if i happen to be in the neighborhood...good stuff..  i mean i made some friends out here but nowhere near the same level of comfort or familiarity.. i guess this is the toughest part of movin out here.
to all my friends (in the words of carylai quoting nacho libre), XXOOxOXoxO

currently:
craving pumpkin bread thingy from Pine Forest Garden..

more from this past weekend:
rainbows somehow became cheesy in my mind over the years but once again amazing when it suddenly appears out of the blue so couldn't help but take a photo.  maybe they're cheesy cos i'm just not a kid anymore.

recently:
我最近真的很不爽我自己..

something from last month:
still bitter about chippin my fav cup.. bled me too.

v.arrgh:  every time i edit or preview or toggle HTML in the blog entry, the embedded vid disappears.. how bizarre.. also MSN Live Space masks the address to the photo albums for some reason.  thus cannot link to them at the proper spots of the blog.. instead am forced to use the "Add photos" function which appends them at the end of ur blog entry..  so here r the related photos at the bottom.

*how cool is that.. part deux

been a while since i've attended a yoga class of any sort.   i used to go Bikram Yoga (or hot yoga, which is 26 postures done in a humid sauna environment) 3-4 times a week which did wonders for my back pain & insomnia but costed mucho dinero.   plus it stunk really really bad durin the summer sessions so i kinda stopped.

anyways, 24 Hr Fitness apparently has yoga as one of their classes offered for members.  and since i already have a membership it's like havin free yoga sessions..how cool is that??  so my buddy & i went to check it last week.  even if it's not as awesome or theraputic as Bikram Yoga i still got to learn some new postures w/out havin to shell out extra bucko bucks.  i swear that instructor was obsessed w/ the warrior pose.  this week, there was a substitute instructor and she was obsessed with chataranga but at least she offered a far greater repertoire of postures and better demonstrations.   did i mention there were some really ridiculously good lookin girls in the class?  ok i exagerate but u get the picture..

i gotta say, the 24 Hr Fitness membership has been good to me due to their abundant facilities located like everywhere and now they got yoga too.  i basically signed up for access to their basketball courts as well as sauna, steam room, & spa but am gettin more out of it.  typical 24 routine :
sauna for warmup -> go to steam room do some yoga -> quick courtesy rinse & proceed to cold dip in pool, maybe a little swimmin-> repeat or chill in hot tub till rdy to go.. -> go home & sleep like a baby..

ketchup

One day there was these three tomatoes walking down the street, a mama tomato, a daddy tomato and a baby tomato. the baby tomato was walking too slow, so the daddy tomato went back, stepped on him and said ketchup!

that was an old ketchup joke, and this is a catchup post of photos..

comments: gotta wonder if that duck is naturally rockin the mowhawk or if somebody gave it the do..

*how cool is that??

woohoo, finally found a decent Chinese class offering in h-town!  some quick research last friday revealed the Chinese Community Center (CCC) of Houston and found out i was just in time for the summer program.  i've gone through somewhat of an ordeal tryin to find decent Chinese class offerings to improve my Chinese reading skillz.. last bummed attempt, i ended up taking beginner japanese via UHCL Foreign Language Program since they would NOT gimme a refund after i found out their so called "advanced" chinese class has not even started teaching chinese characters; plus they learn by romanized pinyin.  lookin back, at least i made the best of the situation & got a taste of the japanese language structure as well as pickin up some invaluable vocab:

ki chi gai + oishi = crazy delicious

sorry i just made that up by combinin vocab i learned so i doubt that's how japanese would really say crazy delicious..

anyways, the CCC has a 'Summer Adult Chinese and Leisure Program' that span from chinese lessons to martial arts, hip hop dance & ping pong!  ping pong lessons man..how cool is that??  i ended up choosing the 'Applying Chinese' class starting 06/13 as well as a 'Chinese Input Methods' starting 06/09 which should really improve the learnin curve.. i might even evaluate the ping pong class & see how it goes..

speaking of ping pong, check out the japanese movie, Ping Pong, if you have a chance.. it is one of the best damn sports movies i've ever seen..highly entertaining & inspirational & so much more.  go check it out already..
